SolutionsDevelopers Celebrates the 18th Anniversary of John Gilroy, “The Computer Guy” on National Public Radio

Today, the SolutionsDevelopers Corporation celebrated John Gilroy’s 18th year as the “The Computer Guy” on WAMU 88.5FM. Known throughout the DC/Metro area as The Computer Guy, John is an award-winning radio personality and the public face of SolutionsDevelopers, a leading IT consultancy focused on driving business performance with innovative technology, strategy, and application development services.

John began appearing on WAMU 88.5 FM in April of 1991. Since that time he has contributed to several programs focusing on a wide-range of technology and computer topics. By 1998, John became a regular contributor on the popular The Kojo Nnamdi Show and The Computer Guys became the anchor for a weekly technology discussion titled, Tech Tuesday. “My congratulations to John Gilroy for 18 years of wise, reliable guidance on computers to the listeners of WAMU” says Kojo Nnamdi, host of The Kojo Nnamdi Show. “Without John Gilroy, there would be no Computer Guys, and the first Tuesday of each month would no longer be appointment radio for thousands of people.”

During his tenure, John has been recognized by IEEE Computer Society with an award for his contributions to the world of computing and WAMU radio.

In 1994, John converted his radio answers into a weekly column in The Washington Post, appropriately titled, Ask the Computer Guy. The popular column lasted ten years and was distributed by the Washington Post Writers’ Group. John has over one hundred television appearances, including Dateline NBC, ABC Nightline and C-SPAN.

John also hosts SolutionsDevelopers’ monthly Technology Leadership Roundtable, which provides a forum where commercial and federal technology leaders can discuss business, technology adoption issues, and trends driving information technology decisions.
